Littlegig launched to the press and a few of our favourite Joburgers in October. People-watchers step inside…
We’ve been spreading our wings! We launched Littlegig at Maboneng’s David Adjaye-designed Hallmark House. Because although Littlegig happens in Stellenbosch, its spirit is boundary-pushing, so Joburg felt like the right place to share the story. Music was by Zara Julius and Samthing Soweto, food by Jenny Ward of Cape Town restaurant Chefs, and Georgia spoke about what’s on the cards for 2018, which included our final round of musician announcements…SAMA-winning house music duo Black Motion, performance artists Dear Ribane, the Sound Supremes and Amy Ayanda.
A fly on the wall would have observed that Manthe Ribane stole the show, Marianne Fassler was the queen she is (with the freshest talent at her side), industry bosses Greg Maloka, Nick Grubb, Paul Thackwray and Glenn van Loggerenberg gave their solid support, Swaady Martin radiated clean living, Maps Maponyane’s mother should be proud of his work ethic and genuine charm, Tresor captivated Georgia with the story of his journey from the DRC to Durban car guard to internationally-signed artist, and one happy guest (who works in finance and is a music journalist on the side) bought 24 tickets for his birthday. Joburg, you’re a shot in the arm!
