When your name is Rodan (rhymes with Rodin) Kane Hart (rhymes with art, duh) you’re off to a good start.

At Littlegig 2018, Rodan is collaborating with Debra Parkington on a series of sculptures for the Gin Bar, and designing the backdrop for Dear Ribane’s performance on the Basketball Court Night Stage.

His sculptures, drawings, and photographs are found in public and private collections throughout South Africa, Europe and Asia. He’s staged four solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group and independent exhibitions, including Swatch Faces (2017) at the 57th Venice Biennale.

WHY A FESTIVAL?
“I’m excited about this project because Littlegig rests outside the traditional exhibition platforms where my work is regularly positioned. And collaborating with other creative practitioners and cultural consumers is rewarding.”

“It’s important to create a considered and holistic environment where art, performance and music not only co-exist but benefit from one another, breaking down preconceptions and barriers between disciplines.”

WHAT CAN WE EXPECT?

Absolute Reflection | RKH x JF 2014

“A series of sculptures made out of mirror polished stainless steel, individually hand bent, crumbled and internally distorted. Each work creates an immersive experience of light, colour and reflection, simultaneously absorbing and repelling the surrounding environment.”

FAMOUS LAST WORDS
“I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all I could see was me. I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see.” – Jimi Hendrix
